In “Scaffolding a Familiar Epoch” (2021), a performative intervention at Stephenson’s 100-year-old pharmacy in Downtown Cairo, El Meleegy explored the intersections of architectural renovation, physical repair, and spiritual healing through collaborating with the pharmacy owner on his physical shop and archive. The work connects personal and collective histories from within Downtown Cairo, positioning the pharmacy as a ‘medical’ space - or a site for healing - and as a historical museum while questioning the healthcare system in Egypt.
